Contact Richmond Records Offices

Not a government office or records custodian. Richmond Residents Directory cannot retrieve, certify, correct, or remove an official record. Send those requests to the custodian. For an emergency, call 911. If someone is stalking or harassing you, contact local law enforcement.

Reach the Right Richmond Office

Use the office that holds the record. For a City of Richmond public-records request, the City FOIA portal or the department-specific contact is the right starting route. Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act is codified at Va. Code §§2.2-3700 et seq., including the request provisions in §2.2-3704. Describe the record with reasonable specificity and ask the custodian about electronic delivery, exemptions, redactions, and current charges.
