Information You Send
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search box is submitted to the outside provider that powers that result route. Richmond Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those search entries on its own servers. If you contact us, we receive the details included in your message and use them to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Hosting systems can record ordinary technical information, such as an IP address, browser type, requested pages, and timestamps. We review that information in aggregate to maintain the service and understand use. Cookies or similar technology may also support basic analytics or advertising measurement.
How Data Is Used
Limited technical and correspondence data supports site operation, security, troubleshooting, traffic measurement, and responses to messages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles from search activity.
External Services
Links lead to City of Richmond, Virginia, library, archive, and outside search services. Their privacy notices govern information submitted on their systems, including any sponsored result route. Review the destination’s policy before entering personal information there.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting, analytics, and support providers may process the technical information described above while providing their services. We may disclose information when valid legal process requires it. Otherwise, disclosure is limited to operating and supporting the service.
Security and Retention
The service uses an encrypted connection where available and keeps logs only for the operational purposes described here. Because there are no accounts, the service does not maintain visitor passwords or account profiles. No system can promise absolute security.
Visitors Under 18
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor has sent personal information, and we will address the request.
Virginia Privacy Choices
Virginia’s Consumer Data Protection Act appears in Title 59.1, Chapter 53 of the Code of Virginia. Depending on its application and the data held, it can provide rights concerning access, correction, deletion, and certain processing choices. Richmond Residents Directory keeps little visitor data, but requests can be sent through the Contact page. Official records held by Richmond or Virginia custodians are not controlled here; direct those requests to the relevant office.
Policy Changes
Updates will be posted on this page. Continued use after a posted revision means the updated policy applies from its posting date.
